NEWS: Ruttan. Bruen. Steinhauer. Bagley.

Bombshells and grenades are dropping all around the world of crime fiction. None of this 'order a personal rocket launcher and have it delivered to a house in the suburbs within a few days'. No, this is all above board. And the news is brilliant.

SANDRA RUTTAN AND KEN BRUEN TO VERY QUITE POSSIBLY (AND THEY BETTER BLOODY WELL) COLLABORATE ON A NOVEL.

PATRICK SHAWN-BAGLEY TO CO-EDIT MYSTERY ANTHOLOGY.

OLEN STEINHAUER NOMINATED FOR AN EDGAR AWARD.

And that's not all:

CORNELIA READ, CHARLES ARDAI, BILL CRIDER AND MANY MORE NOMINATED FOR EDGAR AWARDS AS WELL.

Bloody hell. What a week in the world of crime fiction news. It's going to be a great year all round.

(Editor's note: the order of all items is chosen randomly and without favouritism, except for the bit about Bruen, which is just too fucking cool.)

I'll tell you Daniel, I was so star-struck with Ken when I met him. I just adore him. I read his books and just about die, the writing just blows me away. Brilliant brilliant author.

And Patrick's news is totally cool.

And Olen's, and Cornelia's. And I'll be quiet now or this comment would be a mile long.

I KNOW!!! How cool would it be to write a book with KEN-FUCKING-BRUEN?! Personally, I'd be nothing but terrified, but I think Sandra can pull it off.

And yes, it's been an amazing few weeks in the crime fic world. Wonderful news on all fronts!

I'm still getting a rocket launcher anyway. Thanks for passing along everyone's good news Daniel. And, yes, you're right about Sandra and Ken Bruen. They'd BETTER write the book after getting us all psyched up for it.

Sandra: if only I could convert all this coolness and brilliance into a snowstorm. It's stinking hot down here in Sydney. I'll just have to settle for using my imagination.

Angie: the coolness factor of that particular tidbit is going through the roof!

Patrick: Just remember to NEVER sit on the launcher and everything will be fine.

M.G: Yes! Yes!
